State of Emergency Declaration for the City of Portland

TN State Governor Executive Order

  • All court dates and traffic classes in the City of Portland are suspended, you will be contacted for further information.
  • All organized sporting events at the Parks and Recreation Department are cancelled until further notice. Please note if you choose to use the park facilities you should follow the CDC guidelines for public spaces.
  • The City of Portland is restricting access to all city government buildings for precautionary measures in the prevention of any possible COVID-19 outbreak. This is for the health of our citizens as well of that for our employees. Our President and Governor has asked for each of us to make sacrifices and changes to our normal daily lives, and the City of Portland wants to be a good partner in that request as well.
  • To ensure continuity of government, as well as our commitment to public safety, the City will remain vigilant in carrying out critical operations and prioritizing support functions.
  • During this precautionary period, the City is asking that all City business be conducted electronically or by phone until further notice, so that social distance requirements can be met.
  • City buildings will remain open for personnel, but residents should call the City at 615-325-6776 to determine how to best handle specific needs.
  • Contact info and extensions for key personnel are listed on the City’s website at www.cityofportlandtn.gov
  • All payments to the City (utility bills, fines, fees, and taxes) should be made at the drive-thru located at 107 N. Broadway (the old Farmers Bank branch building); and we encourage you to sign up for Xpress Bill Pay (sign up on City’s website) to pay your utility bills online.
  • We have put in place several emergency plans for the safety of our employees, and to help ensure continued service during this difficult time that our Nation is facing; and we thank you for the sacrifices you are making as well.
