Call the Court Clerk’s office in order to find out the amount of your fines and costs, as well as possible options regarding your citation. To expedite the process, please have available the five digit citation number that is located in the upper right hand corner. Any incomplete or incorrect payments will be returned and the defendant will not receive credit for the payment. Note that when you remit a payment prior to your court date for a moving violation, this is the same as entering a plea of guilty. Any points the State of Tennessee assigns for that violation will be added to your driving history, therefore causing an increase in your insurance rates. Any licensed driver in the State of Tennessee may only accumulate twelve points in a calendar year and if that number is surpassed, the state will more than likely order the driver to attend an eight hour defensive driving class in order to retain their driving privileges.
You may pay in person Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 100 South Russell Street in the Court Clerk’s office. Acceptable payment forms include cash, debit card, credit card [MasterCard and Visa], cashier’s check, money order or personal check. You may also pay by phone using your debit or credit card by calling (615) 325-6776.
You may mail your ticket with a cashier’s check, money order or personal check made payable to the City of Portland. Your payment must be received before your court date listed at the bottom of the ticket. Do not send cash in the mail.
