Home of the:

Annual Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival

Join us in May 2014 for our 73rd Strawberry Festival

You are welcome to visit with us and see why many believe that our city will be one of the next fastest growing areas of the state.

We have southern hospitality, delicious strawberries, hometown values, and we trust you will find Portland a good place to visit, live, work, or make an investment.

The City of Portland was incorporated in 1905 and for most of its history, has been known as the "Strawberry Capitol" of the state. Although that's no longer true, we still celebrate our traditional Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival every year during the month of May. The next Festival date is scheduled for May 11, 2013!~ Come Join Portland in this Traditional Celebration !

We’re located in northern middle Tennessee, only 30 minutes north of Nashville. Because of our proximity to Interstate 65 and Nashville - where Interstates 65, 40 and 24 intersect and we are within a day’s drive of about 50 percent of all the U. S. population - the city has enjoyed opportunity for location of industrial facilities, and in more recent years, location of numerous distribution and warehousing facilities.
Although there's the more recent industrialization, the beautiful landscape and atmosphere of a rural, agricultural lifestyle are still evident in the outlying areas. The Portland area experiences four beautiful and distinct seasons. Most of the 11,000 or so residents know their neighbors, feel safe and secure in their homes, enjoy the availability of good schools, churches, parks, and civic organizations, and simply love living here.

Our community is a great place to call home. Welcome!

Mayor

Kenneth Wilber
